Those who control their passions do so because their passions are weak enough to be controlled

Shinepoisonivy Photography is a project from Ivy de Winter (Poison Ivy)

Live music photography is Ivy's greatest passion and pleasure: some moments are so magickal that they demand to be shared with others.

Her passion comes first, but the equipment comes a close second. She has carefully chosen her gear; she trusts it and her ability to get the best from it. She uses a Canon EOS -1 D Mark IV to catch the action through Canon 24-70/2.8 EF-L USM and Canon EF 70-200mm F/4L IS USM lenses.

Ivy is always looking for exciting picture opportunities. She got her first camera from her father at the age of 7 and was taking pictures as she was learning to read and write. After experience with a range of film cameras, she switched to digital SLR in 2006.

Travel is not an issue as it gives her fresh opportunities to photograph bands playing live. She especially likes the European festival circuit, where she already has experience working on some exciting projects, but is prepared to undertake commissions worldwide. Away from her professional role she enjoys the special atmosphere that these large scale musical events generate, but never allows this to distract her from her work.

Ivy also enjoys studio work, as the level of control means that anything and everything is possible; creating original visions to compliment the subject's music.

Ivy has been involved in the music scene since the mid-1990's and in live music photography since 2008; a great and, musically, important year for her personally - “Forever Remain!”
